The overarching goal of The e-Governance Academy (eGA) in establishing WirelessEstonia.com is to bridge the gap between government officials, businesspeople, technologists and visionaries from around Estonia and around the world in understanding and awareness of Broadband Wireless Access (BWA) technologies. |
Our inaugural event was a conference, entitled The Policy of Broadband Wireless Access Technologies, which was held on April 24, 2006, and was free to all participants. By keeping it free, we hoped to increase our reach in terms of attendees, and take a big step in terms of raising the overall awareness and understanding of this developing field. |
The conference has generated a lot of dialogue regarding BWA technologies in Estonia, and we wanted to continue to foster this dialogue-- even between people who were unable to attend our event. With this in mind, we have created a BWA forum, where users can post facts, opinions, links to external articles, and eventually even upload documents to increase the overall understanding and awareness of WiMAX and other BWA technologies. By aggregating this information here through a forum, we hope to equip decision-makers (and all types of people, for that matter!) with the best possible information about a field that is in constant flux. |
WirelessEstonia.com is a collaboration between eGA and a number of other sponsors, and seeks to bring together members of the public, private, and non-profit sectors. Because the e-Governance Academy is a non-profit, non-governmental organization ourselves, we endorse no specific product or solution, despite the fact that we have received support from a few private corporations. Perhaps as this portal evolves we will have a section dedicated to the different solutions in the marketplace, but at the moment we are choosing to stay impartial. If you have any suggestions, questions, or comments about the website or the forum, please do not hesitate to email them to us. The forum is accessible through the link on the top right-hand side of this page. Cheers. |
